What the heck is a URI?
URI stands for Uniform Resource Indicator. It is effectively an identifier of a specific or element. In Spotify's case, URIs are used to indicate Artists, Tracks, Albums, Playlists, Songwriters, Users, and more! Apple has a similar resource indicator called Apple IDs that function much the same way.
How do I use URIs?
Artists can need URIs / resource identifiers for a variety of reasons. To name a few examples, sometimes blogs and radio stations might ask for your Track URI for your new single before release date so that they can add it to their playlists on release date immediately.
Additionally, Artist URIs can also be used in mapping requests so that distributors like DistroKid can request particular releases be mapped to your correct artist page.
In these and many more ways URIs can be useful in your own career.
How do I find my URI?
