Due to Apple policy changes, Apple is no longer accepting name change requests under any circumstance. The first artist name that is submitted to Apple on a release will be the name that is permanently associated with this release.
Contacting Apple about this will not result in your name change being processed.
If you would no longer like your release on Apple under the name you originally submitted with, you can request to remove your release from Apple by following these instructions.
If you remove your release and resubmit the same release under a different name than your original name, Apple will remove your release from their service.
However, you can still upload any new releases under a new artist name.
What if Apple States that DistroKid Can Update Your Artist Name?
If you reached out to Apple about your name change (which will not result in your name change being processed), they may have directed you back to DistroKid indicating that as your distributor, we facilitate metadata update requests.
As your distributor, we do facilitate metadata updates! However, DistroKid can only update metadata in ways that align with Apple's formatting rules, and the current policy is that artist names cannot be changed on previously distributed content.
You can still update your artist name on your previously distributed content for other services, and distribute new content to Apple under your new name.
