TikTok’s Music ID database is a system that identifies when certain music is used in any content on their platform. DistroKid’s Social Media Pack album extra adds your music to TikTok’s Music ID service and gets you paid every time your music is used on TikTok as user-generated content. Here’s how it works:
- First, opt-into Social Media Pack in the DistroKid upload form. You'll see pricing information there. Price is per release (album or single). You can also opt-in a release after it's been uploaded to DistroKid, if you prefer.
- Once you've opted into Social Media Pack, DistroKid will add your music to TikTok's Music ID database.
- When TikTok detects new user-generated content on their platform with your song, that is added to a tally of total UGC creations utilizing your song.
- TikTok pays per creation attributed to your song at a set rate based on an ads revenue royalty pool.
- The ad revenue (minus 20%) will go to you and these earnings will be shown in your DistroKid "Bank" tab.
