When you upload your music using DistroKid, your music will appear in YouTube Music (YouTube's streaming service) and on YouTube's main video website as Art Tracks. Art Tracks will be placed on an auto-generated YouTube channel known as a Topic Channel.
Topic channels are generated by YouTube to store music releases from distributors. The audio files, artwork, and metadata are used to generate the Art Track, which is a video generated by YouTube that displays the artwork as the audio file plays. They also use these art tracks to populate music in their streaming app, YouTube Music. Here's an example of a topic channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU6cE7pdJPc6DU2jSrKEsdQ
Neither the Topic channel nor the art tracks are created by DistroKid – they are generated by YouTube and cannot be edited/claimed.
You can always upload music and videos directly to your regular YouTube channel, but it's beneficial to also have your music in its Topic channel to take advantage of the earnings generated from ads on art tracks and royalties generated from YouTube Music.
If you have a personal YouTube channel that's dedicated to your music on YouTube, then you can easily create an Official Artist Channel (OAC) with DistroKid. Once you have an Official Artist Channel, all of your Art Tracks will be linked to your OAC and will display on both your OAC as well as the auto-generated Topic Channel.
