If you've uploaded a release to DistroKid and need your Artist, Album, or Track URI in Spotify (even pre-release), you can use DistroKid's Spotify URI Looker-Upper tool. Access it by clicking the Goodies icon in the upper right in DistroKid, selecting "Helpful When Needed," then "Spotify URI Looker-Upper." You can also go directly to https://distrokid.com/uri/spotify.
If you didn't use DistroKid for your release or prefer not to use our Spotify URI Looker-Upper tool, you can find the URI directly on the Spotify website or desktop app if the release is live.
Using DistroKid's Spotify URI Looker-Upper Tool
Here's how you can use the Spotify URI Looker-Upper tool at https://distrokid.com/uri/spotify:
- Use the dropdown menu to select the release you want the URI for
- Click on "What's the Spotify URI?"
- See the result that includes the Album, Track, and Artist URIs and direct links for the release
Once you've uploaded your release and delivered it to Spotify, you may need to wait at least two days for a URI to populate through this tool. If you try to use the tool and see a message that says "Looking it up, check back tomorrow," please wait at least two days, and then try again.
Note that direct links to albums or tracks shown through the Looker-Upper tool won't work in Spotify until their release date.
Finding the URI Directly in Spotify
Here's how you can find the URI for an artist, album, or track directly in Spotify (only from the Spotify website or desktop app):
- Click to the three dots next to the artist name/album/track title
- Hover over "Share" to open the secondary menu
- Hold down the Option key on Mac or the Alt key on Windows
- Click "Copy Spotify URI" from the secondary menu
Please note that the URI for an album or track can only be found this way if the release is live in Spotify.
