When you submit your work to YouTube Music, you can ensure that your release is being mapped to the correct YouTube Music artist page!
On the upload form, if you have an existing YouTube Music artist page, simply enter the YouTube Artist ID when prompted.
If you don't have an existing YouTube Music profile, just select "No - I don't have an artist profile yet in YouTube Music" and a request for a new profile for your work will be sent alongside your music.
If your work was delivered to an incorrect artist page on YouTube, you can use our Fixer Tool to submit a request to send any releases on the wrong artist page to the correct artist page, or even request a new artist page if needed.
Keep in mind, every artist has two pages within the YouTube product ecosystem that show their albums:
YouTube Music - This is YouTube's music streaming platform. When you select "YouTube Music" on the upload form, this is where DistroKid is distributing your work.
YouTube - Once your release is on YouTube Music, YouTube then also creates a Topic Channel that is available on their general streaming platform. Each track is converted to a still-image, audio-only "video", called an Art Track.
Both the Artist Profile and Topic Channels are identified by the same Artist ID and include the same list of albums associated with that Artist ID.
By having all of your music on the correct YouTube Music Artist Profile (using your Artist ID), you are also ensuring that if you have your own YouTube channel (an Owned and Operated channel, or O&O for short), it can be converted to an Official Artist Channel.
It also ensures that all of your work available on YouTube Music will be available on your Official Artist Channel should you choose to convert your own channel into an Official Artist Channel!
