Social Media Pack is an annually charged DistroKid Album Extra that helps get you paid when somebody uses your music in videos they post to social media platforms. Once opted in to Social Media Pack, DistroKid helps services (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook) search through videos posted to their platforms and send you earnings if your music is found in any videos.

This audio identification applies to videos that natively include your music. This means the music was part of the video at upload, and not added after upload from an audio library within the platform. Such content is known as user-generated content (UGC), and you won't earn from UGC videos unless you opt your music into the Social Media Pack album extra.

How to Opt in to Social Media Pack

You can opt into Social Media Pack from the DistroKid upload form under "Extras." The pricing for Social Media Pack is per release (album or single). You can also opt a release in after it's been uploaded to DistroKid, if you prefer – to do so, head to the release page from your DistroKid dashboard, scroll down to the "Extras" section, tick the box for Social Media Pack, and click "Add Selected Features." 

Once you've opted in, DistroKid will add your release to the platform databases. The platforms use audio fingerprinting technology to identify when your music appears in any uploaded videos that natively use your music. This content is called user-generated content (UGC).

Monetization with Social Media Pack

Social Media Pack allows you to get a share of earnings generated by UGC videos that use your music on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.

These earnings (minus 20%) will go to you, and will be shown in your DistroKid "Bank" tab.
