If you don't specify a record label name when uploading to DistroKid (you must have the Musician Plus or Ultimate plan to do so), your record label may be listed as a number, followed by "Records DK".
That information isn't really used for anything. It's just what our system automatically assigns to you, unless you specify your own label name.
The label name may appear in streaming services. But have no fear; we have no ownership over your music or anything like that. The label name we generate is just because we need to provide something to streaming services, so that's what we came up with.
Why "Records DK?" It used to say "DistroKid.com" but we started getting tons of fan mail and other correspondence from people trying to get in touch with the many DistroKid artists. And we were all WHOA HOLD YOUR HORSES so then changed to the more cryptic "Records DK". That way, listeners will contact you by Googling you & finding you elsewhere. Or something. Like. That.
