Most services categorize singles, EPs, and albums based on the number of tracks in the release. Broadly, here is how they are categorized:
Singles:
Most services consider a release to be a single if it contains 1-3 tracks that are each less than 10 minutes. If you upload an release with 1-3 songs, most major services will automatically add "- Single" to the end of the album title.
EPs:
Generally, services consider a release to be an EP under either of the following circumstances:
- It contains 4-6 tracks and a total running time of 30-minutes or less.
- It contains 1 to 3 tracks with one track at least 10-minutes long, and a total running time of 30-minutes or less.
Albums:
Any release with 7 or more tracks will be categorized as an Album within services.
