DistroKid offers an optional album extra called "Social Media Pack." When you opt into Social Media Pack, we'll add your audio to YouTube's Content ID system, which scours YouTube for videos that use your music. When a match is found, ads play on the video, and you'll get ad revenue.
If you have a video on YouTube that uses your own music, you'll likely get an email from YouTube that there's been a copyright claim against it, and that the claim is from "Interstreet Recordings." This is nothing to worry about – Interstreet Recordings is the engine that helps power DistroKid's "YouTube Content ID" feature.
The email is YouTube's Content ID system working correctly and notifying you that ads will be run on your video. YouTube will send ad revenue to DistroKid, and DistroKid will pass it over to you.
Allowlisting Videos in YouTube Content ID
If you opt into YouTube Content ID through DistroKid but want to allow specific videos to use your music without Content ID claims, you can use the YouTube Allowlist tool in DistroKid. You can find the YouTube Allowlist tool by logging in to DistroKid and heading to https://distrokid.com/youtubeAllowlist.
If your video says "provided to YouTube by DistroKid," then the video is an Art Track in YouTube and is ineligible to be allowlisted.
Please note that it is not possible to allowlist an entire YouTube channel – allowlisting is for individual videos, and only after a claim is placed on it by YouTube Content ID.
